BIOGRAPHY

I'm Hannes, 34 and I live in Bavaria, Germany. Until the age of 21, alpine skiing was my life, but a new appreciation of lift-free mountains led me to climbing, hiking and, finally, running. Ultra trail running, especially races of 100km or more, has become my passion. I'm actively looking for the most competitive races in Europe this year and plan to race in the US in 2025. Since my first trail race in 2015, I have loved the sport more and more every year and I want to do even better.

Through your collaboration with Näak, what values would you like to pass on to your community?

In collaboration with Näak, I aim to convey the importance of nutrition to our community. It's essential to treat nutrition as a key element in your training regimen, incorporating it consistently into your daily sessions. Pay particular attention to gut training to familiarize your stomach with the challenges posed by your physical activities.

What advice would you give to your younger self just starting out in trail-running?

Pay attention to your body's signals and take it one step at a time. Don't jump immediately into ultra-running; start with shorter distances and progress gradually. Consider enlisting the help of a coach or mentor to help you learn. Initially, try to find a comfortable pace in shorter races before moving on to longer ones.

What are your favorite Näak products and why?

I have a preference for Waffles, Bars, and Sweet Potatoes Puree. I use the same products for training and running. After races, I take Näak protein powder to refill my energy reserves. Näak has given me confidence and I particularly appreciate the natural ingredients composition. The products suit my stomach, pose no problems and reliably maintain my energy levels.
